Bloomington, MN - Bloomington Patriots marched to Mayor Tim Busse’s home yesterday in Bloomington, MN for a peaceful protest, citing concerns over the mayor’s lack of public support for law enforcement. Mayor Busse had a conversation with the group; who also expressed concerns about a rise in crime that they attribute to a local Holiday Inn Express, which is currently refusing service to the public because it is being used by Hennepin County as a homeless shelter.
Bloomington Patriots felt that their only option to address these issues with the mayor was to go to his home after multiple failed attempts to communicate with him and members of the city council. They gave Mayor Busse a sign for his yard that says, “Thank you for your service Bloomington Police”. It was later confirmed that the mayor did in fact place the sign in his yard using a stake provided to him by the group after being pressured to do so.

The following is a direct statement from Bloomington Patriots:
Our city has had an overwhelming increase in crime and our elected leaders are silent. As I write this, our police are involved in a "shots fired" stand-off incident in West Bloomington. About a month ago they took over 30 rounds fired at them and our leaders said nothing. They continue to allow crime to infest our city while they pretend it’s just business as usual.
Our police are overworked and under-appreciated. Our elected leaders stay silent while they expect our police to work harder, stronger and faster to combat crime. They are tired and they have no voice. WE THE PEOPLE need to be their voice!
We’ve emailed, we’ve spoken during public comment, we hosted a back the blue at Civic Plaza.. they aren't listening. Please come help us send a message to our mayor... it’s time to start backing the blue.
The goal isn't to disrupt his whole neighborhood, so please don't come with that intention. We simply want to stand outside of his house and show him that the time has come for him to acknowledge our Police and speak up about the violence plaguing our community.
