Bemidji, MN - Rep. Pete Stauber (R-MN) publicly called out Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on both of his Twitter accounts after she traveled several hours North of Minneapolis to his district Saturday and met with local Native Americans who oppose the Line 3 replacement pipeline, to show solidarity. “Line 3 isn’t just going to impact this community,” Omar said while speaking in Bemidji. “All of Minnesota will eventually be impacted. If we are not feeling it today, then our children, our grandchildren will.”

Rep. Stauber tweeted from his official Minnesota House of Representatives account Saturday, “Today, my colleague from the Twin Cities, Rep. Ilhan Omar, came to Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District to rally against one of the most vetted projects in the history of this state - the Line 3 Replacement Pipeline.” Stauber continued in a second tweet, “My colleague should rethink her position on this project as it will help our nation maintain energy independence and create good paying jobs for our families. #SafetyFirst #AmericanJobs #OurWayOfLife

Ten minutes later, Stauber tweeted from his campaign account, “Disappointing, Ilhan Omar ignores law enforcement needs in her own district and stands with the defund-police crowd, then travels to northern MN today to promote extreme Green New Deal and oppose Line 3 supported by GOP and Dems and would create thousands of union jobs. #OurWayofLife

Northern Minnesotans in support of the Line 3 replacement pipeline have expressed their concerns to Rep. Stauber regarding the issue. Just three days days prior to Omar’s visit, Stauber tweeted, “Northern Minnesotans continue to tell me they don't want reckless and extreme Green New Deal policy that would put an end to mining and manufacturing, devastate our economy, and hurt our working families.”
